Sandymoor School is committed to providing all students with up to date and impartial information, advice and guidance on careers, education, training and employment.
The school delivers an exciting careers programme through Life Skills lessons for years 7-10, assemblies, tutor time and Enrichment days. Events such as careers evening, mock interviews further add enrichment and breadth so that students can make informed choices. Year 10 and 11 also visit a range of local colleges during the year and have the opportunity to listen to a wide variety of speakers from different institutions and establishments. Our annual Careers Fair is held in November and parents have the opportunity to attend.
We work alongside Halton Careers Education Service to ensure our students get the best possible CEIAG, all year 11s receive a bespoke individual CEIAG interview with Jane Conlon. Our years 10 and 11 have complete a two week work experience week in June. Life Skills long term plan 2020-21
Within Sandymoor Ormiston all students work to achieve The Ten Sandymoor Pledges; this is to increase their experiences, enrichment and support the Gatsby benchmarks. Students cover a wide variety of topics based around the 8 Gatsby benchmarks; we currently have met 100% of the Compass tool in order to achieve all of the Gatsby benchmarks.
During 2020 we achieved The Quality of Careers Mark which was a great achievement and one we are very proud of. We are awaiting confirmation of the Careers Leader training qualification from Careers Connect for our Careers Leader.
