Our Careers leader is Mrs Rebecca Ruddock and she oversees the CEIAG programme within Sandymoor School. Our Careers lead governor is Mrs Linda Needham. We are part of the Liverpool City Region’s Careers Hub, this means that we are one of only 34 schools within the region to be supported by external professionals to get Gatsby benchmark compliant by 2020. Sandymoor School is committed to providing all students with up to date and impartial information, advice and guidance on careers, education, training and employment. The school delivers an exciting careers programme through Tutor time known as ‘Future Fridays’ for all year groups from yrs 7-11; Careers lessons once per fortnight for yrs 7-10 and Enrichment days.
Events such as careers evening, mock interviews further add enrichment and breadth so that students can make informed choices. Year 10 and 11 also visit a range of local colleges during aspirations week and have the opportunity to listen to a wide variety of speakers from different institutions and establishments. This year’s Careers Fair will be held on the 13th November 1-4pm; all years will have the opportunity to attend.
We work alongside Halton Careers Education Service to ensure our students get the best possible CEIAG, all year 11s receive a bespoke individual CEIAG interview with Graeme Peace. Our year 11s have their work experience week this year on the 17-28th June 2018.
